چکیده

A total of 235 Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) from two different soft X-ray surveys (the ROSAT Deep Survey –DRS– and the ROSAT International X-ray Optical Survey –RIXOS–) with redshifts between 0 and 3.5 are used to study the clustering of Xray selected AGN and its evolution. A 2 sigma significant detection of clustering of such objects is found on scales < 40 − 80 h Mpc in the RIXOS sample, while no clustering is detected on any scales in the DRS sample. Assuming a single power law model for the spatial correlation function (SCF), quantitative limits on the AGN clustering have been obtained: a comoving correlation length 1.5 ∼ < r0 ∼ < 3.3 h Mpc is implied for comoving evolution, while 1.9 ∼ < r0 ∼ < 4.8 for stable clustering and 2.2 ∼ < r0 ∼ < 5.5 for linear evolution. These values are consistent with the correlation lengths and evolutions obtained for galaxy samples, but imply smaller amplitude or faster evolution than recent UV and optically selected AGN samples. We also constrain the ratio of bias parameters between X-ray selected AGN and IRAS galaxies to be ∼ < 1.7 on scales ∼ < 10 hMpc, a significantly smaller value than is inferred from local large-scale dynamical studies.

Digital Sky Survey

Current X-ray observatories, archival X-ray data, and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) represent a powerful combination for addressing key questions about active galactic nuclei (AGN). We describe a few selected issues at the forefront of X-ray AGN research and the relevance of the SDSS to them. Bulk X-ray/SDSS AGN investigations, X-ray weak AGN, red AGN, hard X-ray selected AGN, high-redshi...

New active galactic nuclei detected in ROSAT All Sky Survey galaxies I. Verification of selection strategy

We present the first results of a program to identify so far unknown active nuclei (AGN) in galaxies. Candidate galactic nuclei have been selected for optical spectroscopy from a cross-correlation of the ROSAT All Sky Survey (RASS) bright source catalog with optical galaxy catalogs. A high X-ray flux has been used as pointer to galaxies with a high probability to contain active nuclei. Only gal...

Several New Active Galactic Nuclei Among X - ray Sources Detected by INTEGRAL and SWIFT Observatories

We present the results of the optical identifications of a set of X-ray sources from the all-sky surveys of INTEGRAL and SWIFT observatories. Optical data were obtained with Russian-Turkish 1.5-m Telescope (RTT150). Nine X-ray sources were identified as active galactic nuclei (AGNs). Two of them are hosted by nearby, nearly exactly edge-on, spiral galaxies MCG −01−05−047 and NGC973. One source,...

X-ray Processing of Champlane Fields: Methods and Initial Results for Selected Anti-galactic Center Fields

We describe the X-ray analysis procedure of the on-going Chandra Multiwavelength Plane (ChaMPlane) survey and report the initial results from the analysis of 15 selected anti-Galactic center observations (90 < l < 270). We describe the X-ray analysis procedures for ChaMPlane using custom-developed analysis tools appropriate for Galactic sources but also of general use: optimum photometry in cro...
